RUMFORD — The Public Library is hoping to encourage the use of library cards through a free raffle.
Friends of the Rumford Public Library have donated three baskets that will be raffled off during the holiday season. The first two baskets, one for an adult and one for a teen, include a Nook eReader. The third basket is a children’s basket which includes toys, games and DVDs.
Luke Sorenson with the library said the only requirement to enter into the raffle is to have a current library card and to come in and check out a book.
Sorenson said he is hoping the raffle will encourage readers to use the library.
Current library card holders can enter the raffle once a day by visiting the library from Dec. 13 through 31. and winners will be contacted on Jan. 3.
On Dec. 17, the library will also have Mrs. Claus and elves as guest readers from 1 to 2 p.m. Mrs. Claus will be reading Christmas stories and taking Christmas wishes from area children.
The library is at 56 Rumford Ave. and open Monday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
