CARTHAGE — Musicians who have played with the Franklin County Fiddlers over the past 18 years will come together Thursday, Dec. 22, at Skye Theatre Performing Arts Center for a “Home for the Holidays” concert.
Steve Muise, who teaches orchestra in the Mt. Blue Regional School District and directs orchestras at the middle and high schools, founded the FCF in 1993. He performs with Boreal Tordu, Frigate, Muisette and with his father, Paul Muise.
This past summer, Skye Theatre Director Phill McIntyre said he noticed that any time graduating seniors performed in the region, individually or in small groups, former and current FCF members filled the front rows.
That observation prompted the “Home for the Holidays” concert, presented by New England Celtic Arts.
“The word has gone out and many former musicians — from the past 18 years the program has been in place — will be returning to Maine for the holidays and a very special gathering and time of sharing,” McIntyre said.
The concert is part of an effort to raise $2,500 for a new sound system and interactive LCD projector for the orchestra room at Mt. Blue Middle School.
The evening will start with a potluck supper at 5:30 p.m. followed by the concert at 7 o’clock.
Tickets are $15 or by donation at the door. For reservations, call 562-4445. Skye Theater is at 2 Highland Drive off Winter Hill Road and U.S. Route 2.
