WEST PARIS — The First Universalist Church of West Paris plans a lively and diverse series of worship services during the month of January. Services are presented by a combination of Worship Service Committee members and guest speakers. All are welcome to attend; services are 9 a.m. every Sunday until mid-June.

Jan. 1, Second Principle of the Seven Unitarian Universalist Principles: “Justice, equality and compassion in human relations.” Church Worship Committee; service led by Nancy Willard. The committee is leading a series of services with the theme of principles. The next one will take place on Feb. 12 (Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in the congregations.)

Jan. 8, “When the Going Gets Tough,” The Rev. Dustin Howe is guest speaker. Born and raised in Maine, Howe was ordained as an inter-faith minister in 2006. He is also the human resource manager for Grover Gundrilling, Inc. He and his wife, Marian, and their two dogs live in South Paris.

Jan. 15, “A New Heaven and A New Earth,” The Rev. Jennifer Wixson will return as guest speaker. The theme of the service will be “new beginnings.”

Jan. 22, “Being Grateful,” with guest speaker, Scott McElravy, who is currently working on studies that will lead to ordination. He teaches building construction at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School; he is also an avid outdoorsman.

Jan. 29, “Reaching for the Stars,” The Rev. Dustin Howe.
