Leclair’s Restaurant on Ash Street, which is usually kept open all night, was closed last night on account of repairs which are being made. The interior is receiving a new coat of paint and new paper is being put on the walls.

50 years ago, 1961

Androscoggin County jail has been given a good report in the annual inspection made by Vaughn L. Sargent, deputy superintendent of the State Reformatory for Men.

The inspection was made last Oct. 4 and since that time the jail has been further improved. In the report to Gov. John H. Reed and his Executive Council, Perry D. Hayden, commissioner said: “The sheriff and county commissioners should be commended for their long-range planning and instigating repairs and improvements.”

25 years ago, 1986

LISBON — Police handled 390 complaints during the month of November, according to a report released by Chief David Brooks.

Fifteen accidents were investigated; 93 summonses were issued; 17 parking tickets; 174 warnings and 73 defects. A total of 14 persons were arrested, six charged with operating under the influence; and two juvenile contacts were made.

Goods totalling $6,048 were taken in two burglaries and seven larcenies, and vandals caused $1,381 in damages in 18 incidents.
