AUBURN — A Lewiston woman was indicted on an arson charge Wednesday in a late November fire at her home.
Wendy Bryce, 41, of 24 Orange St., is accused of setting a fire to her porch Nov. 30, according to the Androscoggin County grand jury indictment.
The afternoon of the blaze, Bryce told a Sun Journal reporter that she was baby-sitting the 3-year-old child of her former boyfriend, Jimmy Nelson, who is the owner of the building. Bryce told the reporter at the scene that she had just put the child to sleep before the fire started.
Fire damage was confined to the outside of the duplex, according to the State Fire Marshal’s Office. Smoke and water damaged the inside of the building. No one was injured.
Bryce was arrested and jailed after she was questioned by police. She has since been released and will be summoned to appear in court.
