LEEDS — Robert G. Addison Jr., 59, a resident of Bog Road, Leeds, died late Tuesday, Jan. 3, at his home surrounded by his loving family after a lingering illness.

He was born in Lewiston, May 8, 1952, the son of Robert G. Sr. and Ann (Smyc) Addison. Robert graduated in 1971 from Leavitt Institute in Turner. He married Joanne Burgess Strout on Aug. 23, 1974, in Leeds. Robert worked as the Road Commissioner for the Town of Leeds, retiring in 2005, after working there for 18 years.

He was a member of Asylum No. 133, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons and 32nd degree, also member of Scottish Rite Consistory and Valley of Portland Consistory.

Robert enjoyed working and was very dedicated to his job with the town; he liked working on vehicles, loved dancing and old-time western movies, enjoyed snowmobiling in his younger years and spending time with his family.

He was owner operator of R.G. Addison trucking and snowplowing; he also was a parttime sheriff with the Androscoggin Sheriff’s Department and also drove school bus for SAD 52.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne Addison of Leeds; his son, Robert G. Addison III and wife, Bonnie, of Leeds; his three daughters, Trisha McDowell and husband, Brian, of Leeds, Jennifer Gurney and husband, Irwin, of Leeds and Stefanie Jensen and husband, Peter, of Kingfield; five grandchildren, Brittany Gurney, Joshua Smith, Garrett Addison, Cadence McDowell and Tyler Jensen; one great-grandson, Mathieu Knight; a sister, Elizabeth Norman of Petersburg, Mich.; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and the family dog, Dolly.

He was predeceased by his mom and dad.
