WEST PARIS — Two teenagers were killed early Saturday and two other people were injured in a car crash that police say was caused by drinking and texting.

Logan Dam, 19, of Norway and Rebecca Mason, 16, of West Paris were killed when the 2002 Subaru Impreza they were riding in went out of control, became airborne and crashed roof-first into a stand of trees off Route 219 just after midnight, Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said.

Driver Kristina Lowe, 18, of West Paris, was seriously injured and taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland. She was listed in critical condition.

A third passenger, Jacob Skaff, 22, of South Paris, sustained head injuries. He walked away from the scene and was found by police mid-day Saturday at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway. By Saturday evening, he had been treated and released.

Police say the driver had been drinking at an underage party on Morse Hill Road. The group was returning to the party.

Police say the driver was texting when the crash occurred.

No charges have been filed, but McCausland said both the crash and the underage drinking party are under investigation.
