DIXFIELD — Students and their parents, as well as any others who are collegebound, are encouraged to attend a special college financial aid session at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, in the Student Community Center at Dirigo High School.

Coordinator for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid program, Camille Blanchet, said all students who want to be considered for financial aid must fill out the FAFSA forms.

Students and parents must attend the session with a variety of financial information, as well as a laptop computer. Those without a laptop should contact Blanchet at 491-7128, who will make alternate arrangements.

Among the information participants must bring are 2011 or 2010 tax returns, W-2 statements, bank account statements and other financial information.

Dori Fellman, director of Partnership for Success from of the University of Maine at Farmington will lead the session. If all information is available at the Jan. 17 session, then the application can be filed that night.

Blanchet said the program has been in place for nearly a decade, and is a first step for finding funds for college. It is part of a national program aimed at helping students attend two- or four-year colleges or other training or certificate programs.

FAFSA is a collaboration with high school guidance offices.

Light refreshments will be served, along with a chance to win door prizes and a $500 scholarship.

For additional information on documents to be brought the session, students and parents may log onto www.collegegoalsunday.com or call Blanchet at 491-7128.
