FARMINGTON — A grand jury indicted a Brunswick man on charges of burglary after a state police trooper caught him taking jewelry from a New Sharon residence on Oct. 25, 2011.

William H. Poore, 39, also known as William Tozier, was indicted on two counts each of felony burglary and theft, and a misdemeanor violation of condition of release.

Trooper Randall Keaten responded to a burglar alarm at a house on Mile Hill Road. When he arrived he found the electric meter pulled off the house and the telephone line cut, the trooper said previously.

There was a Dodge Dakota pickup truck idling in the driveway and it was loaded with electronics, including computers and flat screen televisions, he said then.

Keaton said he went into the house and heard things being thrown around and saw drawers torn open. He waited, surprising Poore when he came into the room wearing rubber gloves and holding a jewelry box, he said.

Poore was on a stay of execution for a two-year sentence to the Maine Department of Corrections for a theft conviction in Cumberland County when he was arrested in New Sharon, Franklin County Assistant District Attorney Andrew Robinson told the court in October.

Poore was to begin serving that sentence Nov. 11, 2011.

The court set Poore’s bail at $50,000 cash or $500,000 worth of real estate in the New Sharon case.
