FARMINGTON — Police are investigating a break-in that took place early Sunday at Front Street Tavern where more than $1,000 in cash was stolen from a locked safe, officer William Tanner said Monday.
Entry was gained into the building by force through a side door, he said.
A hole was cut into a large safe in an unlocked office to get the money, he said.
Neither the alcohol nor the cash register were touched.
The burglary was reported Sunday morning. It occurred after 2 a.m. and before daylight, Tanner said.
Evidence was gathered at the scene and will be sent to the Maine State Police Crime Laboratory to be analyzed, he said.
Anyone who has any information on the case is asked to contact Farmington police at 778-6311.
