We are told that we should go to college to prepare ourselves for a career in a profession to benefit the people. How about those who aspire to become president of the U.S.A.? Do they have a degree in political science and know how to deal with people of various nationalities, customs and religions?
Public offices should not go to the man or woman with the most money. We need somebody who can be a leader; who isn’t seeking public office for its lavish lifestyle and financial benefits.
If public servants use taxpayers’ money to travel and stay in lush hotels, why are they getting a paycheck? If I travel, I have to pay out of my pocket. Public officials should do the same.
The president has to be a servant of the people, seeking their well-being, knowing how to make personal sacrifices and not balance budgets on the backs of the poor, handicapped or elderly.
