- Ritter Bopp of Eustis makes his way down the experts-only Ripsaw Trail at Sugarloaf Mountain on Friday. Sugarloaf in Carrabassett Valley was reporting between 8 and 10 inches of new snow from a quick-moving storm that streaked across the state Thursday night and early Friday morning. Cold temperatures left the snow dry and light — just right for skiing, according to resort officials.
- Snowboard rider Jeff Pawling of Farmington weaves through the trees in the Thrombosis Glade at Saddleback Mountain in Sandy River Plantation, near Rangeley, in the new snow Friday.
- Shelley Bowen of Guilford, N.H., skis the American Express Trail at Sunday River on Friday morning. The resort was reporting 8 inches of new snow from a storm that swept through Maine on Thursday night and Friday morning.
- Greg Kwasnik, of Farmington, makes some turns below the King Pine Chairlift on the Haulback Trail at Sugarloaf in 8 to 10 inches of new snow Friday.
- Telemark skier Greg Luetje, of Bryant Pond, makes some turns on the American Express trail at Sunday River in 8 inches of new snow on Friday.
