LEWISTON — Senior forward Jake Bergeron scored on a pass from Matt Melanson 3:31 into overtime to lift the Lewiston Blue Devils to a 5-4 victory over Greely in boys hockey on Monday night.

Brandon Tyner opened the scoring with a goal just over four minutes into the game, assisted by Devon Beland and Patrick DeBlois. David Cusson scored three and a half minutes later giving the Blue Devils (7-3) a 2-0 lead. Mitchell Donovan put the Rangers on the board to round out the first period.

Greely tied the score early in the second period on a score from Ben Hackett, assisted by Donovan.

After Brett Vallee’s goal put Lewiston back on top, Greely fired in a pair of goals, both unassisted by Tim Storey and Kenny Richards to take a one goal lead into the third period.

Just 53 seconds into the third, Tyner tallied his second score of the night on another Beland assist ending the scoring for regulation and eventually forcing overtime. Lewiston’s Cam Marquis also finished with a pair of assists.

Brian Wigant stopped 26 shots to earn the victory for Lewiston.

Greely (6-2-1) keeper Kyle Kramlich turned away 25 shots.

Boys basketball

St. Dom’s 55,

Monmouth 18

AUBURN — St. Dom’s sprinted out to a commanding 32-13 halftime lead en route to a 55-18 triumph over Monmouth in boys MVC basketball action.

The Saints (6-7) raced to a 19-4 advantage over the visiting Mustangs through one period.

After a fairly even second quarter, the St. Dom’s defense held Monmouth to just five points in the second half.

Tom Applegate led all scorers with 16 points while grabbing eight rebounds for the victors. Senior Joe Bryant chipped in with 12 points and had five steals. Zak Johnson piloted the offense dishing out seven assists.

The Mustangs (2-11) were led by sophomore Brandon Goff’s five points while Devin West and Billy Cummings each added four.
