SABATTUS — The Masquerade Ball which was held at Lombard’s Hall Wednesday evening was largely attended and many unique costumes were worn. The judges were Eugene Booker and Mrs. Addie Carville and the masqueraders to receive the prizes were Miss Alice Thompson, who was dressed as an Indian maiden, and William Thompson, who represented “Uncle Sam.” Music was furnished by Drinkwaters Orchestra.
50 years ago, 1962
Arthur D. Paradis, a Lewiston Public Works Department carpenter, was last night re-elected to a third consecutive term as president of Local 1458, Lewiston Public Employees, AFL-CIO.
Also elected at the meeting was Armand St. Hilaire, to a second term as vice president, and Benjamin Lombard was voted a fifth term as secretary-treasurer. The local elected Maurice Marquis as a trustee. Dominic Roux was elected shop steward.

The Lewiston-Auburn “Just Say No” Club will hold its monthly meeting January 31 at 1:30 p.m. The topic of discussion will be: The effects of marijuana and the laws pertaining to various amounts of the drug, as well as “Getting High and Driving.”
Members will also review one-act plays about peer pressure.
