LIVERMORE FALLS — Nine staff members of Spruce Mountain High School’s south campus have been awarded a total of $7,294 in grants for technology equipment, service trips and reading materials.
The grants from the Oak Grove Coburn Foundation are designed to support classroom teaching, Principal Steve Leunig wrote in a report to the school board.
Awardees are:
* Kym Bryant: $936 for video cameras and memory cards for sophomore English language arts classes.
* Jenna Cote and Eileen Morin: $1,849 for Kindles, a binding machine and binding supplies.
* Debbie Fournier: $1,013 for lower-level reading materials for the library.
* Barbara Jewett: $770 to fund a Workplace Safety Unit, community service trips and travel to a Senior Jobs for Maine Graduates competition in the spring.
* Diane Maurais: $870 for color Nooks and e-Readers. Color Nooks have audio.
* Ken Landry and Wendy Berube: $1,000 for three video cameras, memory cards and one 35mm camera with strobe.
* Travis Jalbert: $856 for color Nooks and e-Readers.
In 2010-11, seven members of the high school staff applied and received $5,106 to enhance lessons.
