KINGFIELD — As part of Kingfield’s First Friday Art Walk, the Kingfield POPS will present the Foothills Jazz Quartet at the Stanley Museum from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3.

The Stanley Museum is mounting an exhibit of local paintings by Dorothy Stanley Emmons as well as some jazz-era photographs of the artist to complement the music performance.

The Foothills Jazz Quartet has focused on bringing old jazz standards to life, mixing in some blues and contemporary music as well. The group’s set list includes tunes familiar to those who came of age between the 1920s and the turn of the 21st century.

Classically trained Siiri Stinson, vocalist for the group, is versatile in multiple genres, including musical theater and opera. Guest soloist with the University of Maine at Farmington Community Chorus and Orchestra, choir director and member of countless choirs, Stinson has also been a guest vocalist for the jam band Wicked Preserves.

Pianist Jim Perkins, a performer, music educator and music festival adjudicator for the past 35 years, has played and recorded with many rock, R&B, country and jazz groups.

Bass player Andy Buckland, scion of a three-generation musical family, has taught music privately and in Farmington schools, and has performed and recorded with numerous ensembles, including well-known Maine-Acadian group Boreal Tordu.

Drummer Dan Perkins studied percussion under his father, Jim Perkins, and has been playing drums for him for almost 20 years and with local groups, including Parking Lot Pickers and Wicked Preserves. He has also recorded for local songwriters Walter McGee, John Newsome, Steve Camden and Larry Heald.

The Foothills Jazz Quartet plays regularly at the Homestead Bakery in Farmington on the first and third Thursdays of each month and on occasional Fridays.

This is the first in a series of informal music performances that will take place in conjunction with the First Friday Art Walks on Feb. 3, March 2 and April 6, as well as at the Kingfield POPS Art Walk on June 29. Admission is free.
