WILTON — Jean Welch, 71, of Lake Road, Wilton, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Feb. 1, at her home.
She was born March 5, 1940, the daughter of Thornal F. and Pearl (Beane) Welch and graduated from Wilton Academy in 1958. She was employed at Livermore Shoe and G.H. Bass Co. for many years and had been employed at Sykes in Wilton for nearly the last nine years.
Jean enjoyed cooking; especially large family meals and was an accomplished cake decorator, having made many cakes for weddings and special occasions. She enjoyed camping at Cathedral Pines and loved the summer months, and anything that didn’t involve snow. She was a devoted daughter who took great care of her parents, making sure that their last few years before their passing were as comfortable as they could be.
Jean was not only treasured as a mother, but also as a best friend.
She is survived by her children, Beth Welch and her companion, Kathy Roberts, of Palm Harbor, Fla., John Welch and his companion, Donna Farrington, of East Dixfield, Anne Gray and her husband, Virgil, of Shrewsbury, Mass., and Mark Sterry and his wife, Katherine, of Wilton; a half-sister, Neila Noyes of Hebron; grandchildren, Danielle and Gina Welch and Tucker and Carter Gray; and a special niece, Tammy Field of Eustis.
Memories, condolences, photos and videos may be shared on her memorial wall at www.wilesrc.com.
