CARTHAGE — Bruce and Doris Spencer of Jay are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Jodi Spencer Mathers of Carthage, to Ben Jonson Ellis, son of Herman and Melanie Ellis of New Vineyard.

Miss Mathers is a 1994 graduate of Mt. Abram Regional High School and received a bachelor’s degree in secondary English education in 1999 from the University of Maine at Farmington. She also received a master’s degree in education (administration concentration) in 2011 from the University of Maine at Farmington. She has been employed as a teacher of language arts at Tripp Middle School in Turner since 2000.

Mr. Ellis is a 1997 graduate of Open Bible Baptist School in New Vineyard and is currently employed at Bryan’s Auto Body in New Vineyard.

The wedding is planned for noon on June 22 at Breezes Trelawny Resort in Jamaica.
