FARMINGTON — Peggy J. Mills, 89, of Farmington, passed to Heaven on Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Orchard Park Rehabilitation Center.

Peggy was born Sept. 14, 1922, in Lisbon, to parents, John Darling and Esther Gayton Darling. Peggy graduated from Edward Little High School in 1940. She married Waman Mills of Phillips in Portland on April 1, 1945. They settled in Wilton, where she enjoyed life as a wife, homemaker and mother of five children.

She also enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating trips with her husband. She held various parttime jobs when her children got older; and after her husband’s death in 1977, she worked full time as an office clerk for Forster Manufactoring in Wilton.

In her retirement years, she was a beauty consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics for more than 20 years. She traveled to Hawaii a couple of times in her retirement; and to celebrate her 80th birthday, she traveled to Scotland. She spent 53 years devoted to caring for her physically handicapped daughter Linda which also brought many opportunities to travel around the U.S. to various conferences Linda attended. Peggy enjoyed visiting with her friends, family and grandchildren especially. Those who knew her would say she was free to speak her mind, had a calm caring spirit and was a lot of fun.

Survivors, sister, Esther Bradgon of Auburn; daughter, Sally Clemens and husband, Dale, of Wilton; sons, Thomas Mills and wife, Donna, of Trophy Club, Texas, John Mills and life partner, Alice, of Wilton and Scott Mills and wife, Cheryl, of Rumford; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Waman Mills; daughter, Linda Mills; brother, John Darling; sister, Isabel Sirois; brother, Verson Darling; nephew, Edward Gatchall; nieces, Diane Thurston and Dorothy Gatchall; and great-granddaughter, Brandy Kramer.

Her family would like to thank the staff of Orchard Park, and the Androscoggin Hospice team for their loving care during her final months.
