- Employee Peter Kamm of Mountain Mechanical Co. in Strong and owner Buddy Kempton check out the Forster Memorial Building’s new pellet boiler Thursday in Strong. The building houses town offices, a library, several meeting rooms, and a kitchen and dining room. The town received a Wood To Energy Grant from the state Department of Conservation’s Maine Forest Service to buy the pellet boiler. Voters approved converting from oil to wood heat after a 2011 energy audit estimated a $5,000 annual savings based on oil at $2.50 per gallon. “We’ve figured even more significant cost savings because oil prices have increased since then,” Selectman and Energy Team member Michael Carleton said.
