A remarkable report has been made by Treasurer T.F. Callahan to the State Fair Board of Trustees. In spite of the usual share of stormy weather and notwithstanding certain extraordinary expenses such as a new stable, and the expenses of the great aviation event, the State Fair has reduced its debt $12,812.48 since 1908. Every dollar has been watched. Every leak has been stopped, and the result is good.

Juvenile Officer Paul F. Martin of the Lewiston Police Department, who likes to bowl, has a likely juvenile problem in his hands which has a real personal touch. Martin lost his bowling shoes, is what happened. The shoes were taken from the officer’s car last night, probably while the vehicle was parked at the laundromat at Pine and Bates streets.

Lewiston’s Finance Committee awarded a contract Monday to Bodwell Motors Inc. of Brunswick to provide seven police cruisers to the city at a price of $72,993. Bodwell was the low bidder for the car replacements, offering four 1987 Dodge Diplomats and three 1987 Ford Crown Victorias. The company granted the city a trade-in allowance of $6,300 for six old cruisers.
