FARMINGTON — Abbie Ellen Hoar, 96, died on Wednesday, Feb. 29, at the Sandy River Center for Health Care, where she had resided for the past five years.

She was born Dec. 2, 1915, in Harpswell, the daughter of Frank and Carrie White Marden. She was educated in the schools of Phillips and Madrid. She married Kenneth Hoar in 1934 in Phillips. He died April 20, 1990. In 1934, she moved from Rangeley to Farmington. She was a homemaker and loved rocking the babies. She enjoyed knitting, reading and camping. She was a member of the Madrid Grange.

She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Stevens and husband, Leo, of Temple; her son, William Hoar of Skowhegan; her sister-in-law, June Tomlins of Farmington; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
