WATERFORD — Selectman Richard Hunt was re-elected to a second term with 36 votes during Friday’s annual town election.

Only 37 ballots were cast and there were no contests.

Deputy Town Clerk Betty Becker reported the results moments after the polls closed at 8 p.m.

Hunt, of 445 Blackguard Road, ran unopposed for the post he has held since 2009. He has said he is looking forward to a second term when he and his fellow selectmen hope to implement a fiscal ordinance that will provide a financial blueprint for the town.

The annual town meeting will continue at 9 a.m. Saturday in the Municipal Office. There are 68 articles on the warrant.

Selectmen say that of the proposed budget of $1,235, 010, a total of $1,184,213 would be raised in taxes and the remainder would come from the town’s savings or previous fiscal year budget surplus.

If approved, and combined with the Oxford County increase of 5.53 percent and the Oxford Hills School District increase of 2.99 percent, selectmen say they expect the tax rate will increase from $13.25 to $13.75.
