WINTHROP —  Award-winning author Kate Braestup will speak Tuesday, March 13, as part of the Bailey Library’s Lakes Region Lecture Series.

Braestrup wrote “Here If You Need Me,” a New York Times best seller; “Marriage and Other Acts of Charity” and “Beginner’s Grace: Bringing Prayer to Life.”

One of the first chaplains appointed to the Maine Warden Service, Braestrup is also an ordained Unitarian Universalist minister.

In 2010, she received an honorary doctoral degree from Unity College. She has appeared on NPR, the Hallmark Channel and other media locally and nationwide.

Braestrup’s fiction and nonfiction work has appeared in Law and Order, The New York Times, The Sunday New York Times Magazine, Boston Globe Sunday Magazine, Downeast, O magazine and Good Housekeeping.

Braestrup and her husband, Simon van der Ven, reside in Maine with their six children.
