Volunteers wanted
FRANKLIN COUNTY — The American Cancer Society is looking for residents from all areas of Franklin County to join as volunteers in the fight against cancer. Whether available once a month or once a week, even for an hour, each person can brighten the life of a cancer patient.
There are many opportunities at the American Cancer Society to make a difference. In particular, the society is in urgent need of individuals to serve as Road to Recovery drivers. This program matches volunteer drivers with cancer patients to provide safe and reliable transportation to and from cancer treatment. Volunteer drivers need to have a reliable vehicle, a driver’s license and proof of insurance, and attend a training session.
Following training, Road to Recovery volunteers can commit as many or as few hours as their schedule provides.
For more information about the becoming a Road to Recovery driver, or to learn about other volunteer opportunities at the American Cancer Society, contact Jessica Reed at 373-3730 or by email to jessica.reed@cancer.org.
