This is in response to Steve Huston’s letter that appeared March 11. In it, he stated that people who use state services should not be asked to provide identification, or, better yet, being in good health, not to have to work for the services they need. Huston felt it is “demoralizing” to expect either of the above-mentioned.

I would believe people whose luck is down and out would keep their pride and dignity by trying to work for the help they are receiving. The average person needs to feel some self-worth in order to get respect from people. If it means serving the public in one way or another, then so be it.

Beats waiting at the mailbox for the next meal.
