PARIS — The following issues were discussed at Monday’s Board of Selectmen meeting:

Maine Veteran’s Home raffle

The Western Maine Veterans Advisory Committee (WMVAC) received permission to auction off a motor vehicle as a fundraiser for the Maine Veterans’ Home on High Street. The goal is to give the winner a $16,000 car, if the raffle sells enough tickets to make a profit, Joseph Cooney, chairman of the group, said. If it doesn’t, the winner will get $5,000.

The WMVAC is not affiliated with the Veterans’ Home but raises money to support activities there, Cooney said. The group is all-volunteer with no salaries. Cooney said the group’s only expense is postage. Selectmen approved the raffle unanimously.

Pine Street fire station lot

Selectmen voted Monday to accept bids on the old fire station on Pine Street. They viewed a map drawn up from a recent survey, which set a lot large enough to satisfy the town’s half-acre minimum lot size. Town Manager Phil Tarr said the right of way into the lot behind the station crosses over the station lot in one corner but not enough to affect the building.

Selectmen decided to sell the building rather than demolish or remodel it. Tarr has said at least one party has expressed interest in buying it.
