I appreciated the David Sirota column (March 13) about the broadcasting of ideas being a privilege, not a right. Sirota added a few notes concerning some liberal hosts being removed because of offensive remarks. But, the majority of his comments centered on the conservative folk mucking up the “most basic standards of decorum.”
It is apparent that until both sides are able to address one another with something approaching respect, the “downward spiral” will continue.
I read Sirota’s columns all the time! So did I miss the column that took Bill Maher to task when he actually made fun of Rick Santorum’s home-schooled children? (Should children of politicians be targets?) Or when Maher called Sarah Palin two highly defamatory names?
Frankly, I am tired of both sides and long for a true lessening of the name-calling and bellicosity from all of them.
I find some folks worthy of note within both ranks.
We need more common ground, more decency, more kindness and less polarization.
