RUMFORD — Sun Journal reporter Erin Cox, who was injured when she was struck by a car on Feb. 14 in Mexico, is expected to be released from Rumford Hospital on Thursday.

Cox, 33, of Peru, suffered a broken leg, broken arm and concussion when she was crossing Main Street in Mexico and was hit by a 1998 Subaru station wagon driven by Ashley Cioffa-Orr, 25, of Roxbury.

Cox was taken first to Rumford Hospital, and later to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. She later returned to Rumford Hospital for rehabilitation.

She will continue her recovery at her home and is expected to return to work in the Sun Journal’s Rumford Bureau in a full-time capacity later this year.
