DIXFIELD — The RSU 10 board was read a letter from the Peru Board of Selectmen asking for steps to be taken to reduce the budget.
According to the letter, which was read by Superintendent Tom Ward, Peru expects a $100,000 increase in school taxes. They also believe that some steps could be taken to cut the 2012-13 budget without hurting education.
Ward did not comment on the letter. However, the board will likely see some options at its April 9 meeting aimed at reducing the working budget of $37 million. That amount is $3 million more than this year’s budget.
He said figures will be presented that show the dollar impact on each of the 12 towns in the district.
In other matters, the board approved an overnight trip for Buckfield Junior-Senior High School eighth-graders to Boston on May 31, and a four-day class trip for the Class of 2012 to Ocean City, Md., and Washington, D.C., on April 16-19.
Both classes have raised the necessary funds for their trips.
The resignation of longtime special education teacher Barbara Roach-Chambers was also accepted.
