RANGELEY — Four Rangeley artists were accepted and two earned awards at the 22nd annual Maine Open Juried Art Show (MOJAS) at the Waterville Public Library.

Carol Batchelder, Sandy Pealer, Jud Pealer and Pam Ellis represented Rangeley in the exhibit. The competition drew 87 artists from 51 towns submitting 163 paintings, of which 125 were chosen and 30 prizes were awarded. MOJAS is sponsored by the Waterville Area Art Society.

At the awards ceremony on March 20, Jud Pealer won a special merit award in watercolor for his painting, “The Wide Sea,” and Pam Ellis won the Marilyn J. Dwelley Award for realistic landscape with her painting, “Winter Sunlight.”

Other awards were presented in the categories of other media, acrylic, oil and watercolor. Best in Show went to Fayette artist Walter Gaffney Kessell for his detailed pen and ink drawing, “Old Friend.”

The exhibit will be on display at the Waterville Public Library through April 20.
