WINTHROP — Winthrop High School has announced that senior Paige R. Wood has been selected by faculty members to receive the 2012 Maine Principal’s Award. She is the daughter of Steve and Sandra Wood of Winthrop and Kathy Ruff of Manchester.

During her four years at school, Wood has maintained an excellent scholastic record while also participating in many co-curricular activities. She has distinguished herself in the classroom, on the playing field and as a student leader, said staff.

Wood has been a member of the Student Council, serving as co-president her senior year as well as being elected president of her class all four years. She has been in the Latin, Art and Drama clubs all four years and has played field hockey all four years and served as captain her senior year.

She has been instrumental in ensuring the success of Winthrop High School’s annual Day of Caring and Make A Difference Day. Wood plans to attend Husson University, majoring in occupational therapy.

She and Principal Karen Criss will attend an MPA Honors Luncheon in Bangor on Saturday, April 7.
