HARTFORD — Selectmen on Thursday approved of a church group from New York spending a week in June helping rehabilitate homes and splitting firewood for the Hartford Fuel Bank.
The group from Westminster Presbyterian Church of Buffalo contacted Tom Hamilton, clerk of the Hartford Community Church, who brought the request to the board.
The board also approved letting the group use the town beach at the end of each workday. Details of where they will be housed will be decided.
In other business, selectmen:
* Reviewed building permits for a garage on Birch Ridge and a barn on Bear Pond Road.
* Signed a warrant with the names of 42 owners of unregistered dogs.
* Accepted Dave Bowman’s resignation from the Budget Committee and appointed Leslie Boness to replace him.
* Appointed Don Daigle to the Lake Anasagunticook dam committee.
* Approved the Planning Board and code enforcement officer to attend an Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments workshop on subdivision laws.
* Voted to give the town’s old computer to the Road Maintenance Committee.
* Signed the 2012 county tax commitment of $88,593.
The town will celebrate Patriot’s Day, which falls on April 16, a day early on April 15 at 1 p.m. at the Town Hall. There will be a flag ceremony by the American Legion and music by Dave and Helen Raab and others, and the Scottish Highlanders.
