Art show, crockpot cookoff

PHILLIPS — Crockpot wizardry combines with student talent for an Art Show and Crockpot Cook-off Saturday, April 14. The event, to be held in the Phillips Area Community Center on Depot Street, is sponsored by The Phillips Area Circle for the Arts and PACC and is part of the continuing celebration of Phillips’ 200th anniversary.

To mark the town’s founding in 1812, students from Phillips Elementary School have created art illustrating the rich history of Phillips. The art will be exhibited from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on April 14 and all are invited to attend.

A Crockpot Cook-off (and supper) will be held at the same time and place. Anyone wishing to enter a crockpot creation is asked to register by April 9. Registration is free, and forms may be found at the Phillips Town Office, the Transfer Station, Edmund’s Market, Phillips Hardware and 5-K.

Entries will be judged by those who sample the foods, and prizes awarded to the top three cooks: First prize: $50 gift certificate from Edmund’s Market; second prize: $25 gift certificate to Mooseville; and third prize: cookbook and apron.

Entrants get a free supper; all others partaking of the meal pay $6 per adult, $3 per child under 12. Leaders of the PACC 2012 receive $1 off their meal.

50/50 raffle tickets to raise money for the 2012 Old Home Days fireworks will be on sale. For more information, ask any PACC board member, any Circle for the Arts board member or Pam Matthews at 639-2630.

Historical Society meal, meeting

PERU — The Peru Historical Society will meet on Tuesday, April 10, at 5:30 p.m. for a potluck supper with a meeting to follow. Maine Memory Network will be discussed.

Red Hat group plans events

RUMFORD — Twenty-seven Red Hat Mommas of Western Maine met March 27 at the Chicken Coop Restaurant in Mexico.

Knights holding free supper

JAY — This month’s free public supper will be held Saturday, April 14, at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Main Street.

Male Beauty Pageant planned

RUMFORD — The Eagles Auxiliary will hold their annual All Male Beauty Pageant on Saturday, April 14.

WEST PARIS — Kindergarten registration for the Agnes Gray School for the 2011-12 school year will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday, May 3, at the school.
