LIVERMORE — Selectpersons have voted to award the contract for cemetery maintenance to T & T Lawn Care of Livermore for $15,989.
The Monday night vote was contingent upon the Cemetery Committee agreeing that the bid proposal met its requirements, administrator assistant Kurt Schaub said Wednesday.
The Cemetery Committee met Wednesday morning and agreed that the contract from the Livermore company would meet the requirements, he said. A second bid for the maintenance came from Michael Webber of Livermore Falls for $19,500.
In other business at Monday’s meeting:
* Schaub said the town’s insurance company, Maine Municipal Association Risk Management, reimbursed the town $2,849 for a snowblower that was stolen Jan. 6. The machine’s cost in February 2010 was $3,099, Schaub said.
The reimbursement was applied to Highway Department income. “We don’t need to purchase a replacement machine at this time, as one of the used machines we purchased earlier in the year is now doing the job, though it is not as satisfactory as the one that was stolen,” Schaub said.
* Schaub reported to the board that most recent state revenue-sharing information for 2012-13 from the state treasurer’s office is that Livermore is slated to receive $142,498, an increase of $4,347 from the 2011-12 amount.
All funds received through this program are used to reduce the tax commitment, Schaub said. “It’s a far cry from the $180,000 we were getting a couple of years ago,” he said.
* The board declined to donate to the Spruce Mountain Area Robotics Team for a trip to a national championship at the end of the month. Although everyone thinks it is a phenomenal accomplishment and honor, Schaub said, the town in the past has not given to extra-curricular activities or athletic groups and did not want to start. The request was for $1,000. The board did offer the Town Office as a collection point if anyone wants to donate to help the team reach its more than $20,000 goal to attend the event in Missouri, he said.
The Jay Board of Selectmen voted Monday to take $650 from the board contingency fund and selectmen and people in the audience donated a total of $350 to meet the $1,000 request from the team.
