PARIS — Trinity Lutheran Church has announced the arrival of a new pastor, Rev. Raymond Mitchell. He will lead Bible Study at 9 a.m. and worship at 10:15 a.m. on Sundays as well as offering pastoral care and leadership on weekdays. He may be reached at 743-6909.

Mitchell served two parishes and one term as a hospital chaplain during his 38 years in New Jersey. Since retiring he served as transitional pastor in Berlin, N.H., and now in Paris.

Mitchell graduated from Gettysburg College and Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg, Pa. He received four quarters of clinical pastoral education at Elgin, Ill., and counseling training at Princeton, N.J.

Community involvement includes the boards of Lutheran Social Ministries of N.J. and Camp Koinonia, Highland Lake, N.Y. While in Woodcliff Lake, N.J., he served as chaplain of the local fire department and board member of the Community Counseling Service.

Mitchell has a son, Ted, who is married with two sons and teaches social studies in Coventry, R.I. Daughter Whitney, a designer, is married and currently raising a girl and a boy in Westerly, R.I.

In 1965 Mitchell participated in the civil rights march in Montgomery, Ala. In the summer of 2002 he traveled to China with the Amity Foundation and taught conversational English to Chinese English teachers. Hobbies are hiking, cross-country skiing, reading and gardening.
