LISBON — Tammy Merrill, 51, of Lisbon, complained of back pain after her car was struck from behind on Route 196 on Monday afternoon, police said.

She was transported to a Lewiston hospital by United Ambulance.

Police officer Richard St. Amant identified the driver of the other vehicle as Rebecca Curry, 60, of Bath, who complained of shoulder pain but declined immediate medical attention.

According to St. Amant, Merrill was driving west on Route 196 and stopped to turn left on Sabattus Creek Drive. Curry, who was traveling behind her, was unable to stop her Jeep Cherokee and hit Merrill’s car.

Damage to Merrill’s 1996 Jeep Cherokee, which was moved to a nearby body shop, was estimated at $3,000. Damage to Curry’s 2005 Hyundai , which was towed by Fern’s Body Shop, was estimated at $5,500.

No charges were filed in the 1:30 p.m. crash.
