MEXICO — The Police Department will hold a Drug Take-Back Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at the Town Hall on Main Street.

Chief James Theriault said police officers and members of the Mexico Police Explorers will be available to accept the items.

Accepted are old or unused prescription drugs, and over-the-counter medicines.

The event is part of a National Drug Take-Back Day intended to keep drugs away from those not authorized to use them, and to protect the environment.

In other matters, the Mexico Police Department handled 44 incidents since April 18. Among them were 10 complaints against juveniles during school vacation for such things as noise, harassment, and youngsters playing in the roads.

Arrest

* Alan Dolloff, 21, of Peru, on a charge of operating under the influence, at 1:10 a.m. April 21 on River Road. Dolloff was released from the Police Department on $800 unsecured bail. He is scheduled to appear in Rumford District Court on June 5.

Burglaries

* A Dix Avenue resident reported at 11:19 a.m. April 23 that someone had entered her home earlier that morning through a window and stole DVDs, CDs, and a DVD player, valued at $400.

* A Sun Valley Circle resident reported at 2:40 p.m. April 22 that someone entered her home the night before and stole an Xbox, valued at $300.

* A resident of Osgood Avenue reported at 1:30 p.m. April 18 that someone entered his garage between April 13 and 17 and stole a chain saw valued at $1,200.

Property recovered

* Police, with the assistance of school office personnel, recovered a cellphone owned by a Mountain Valley Middle School student that had been stolen on April 9. The cellphone was returned to the owner. Charges are pending against a middle school girl.
