This is in response to the Connie Schultz column printed April 21.
I believe that Hilary Rosen is not that accurate. There is no reason to believe that Mitt Romney is trying to pit women against women. The news stations she mentions wouldn’t give accurate reports, anyway.
I was a stay-at-home mom for 44 of the 45 years of my married life. I was proud of my work and — believe me — it was work. Also, I was far from being a millionaire mother.
We were extremely poor for the first several years of our lives. By staying at home and taking care of my family, my husband was able to work, go to school and build a very successful business.
Life wasn’t easy for many years and we would have qualified for government help, but we had pride and never took it. My husband would find a way to take care of our needs.
I am very glad I did stay at home and all four of my children turned out to be very self-sufficient and productive, educated members of society.
I am convinced that being a mother is probably the most important job a woman can do, and that this country would probably be a better place if more mothers took care of their children and gave them love and taught them respect and the ability to be responsible adults.
