LIVERMORE FALLS — Roger Ouellette was recognized with an open house on April 10 by the staff and trustees of the Treat Memorial Library for his 35 years of service and dedication to the library. Ouellette announced at the Livermore Falls Association annual meeting that he would be resigning as president of the association and board of trustees, after having served in that capacity for 27 years.

Ouellette was elected to the board in 1977, was elected vice-president in 1988, and was elected president in 1985, which office he held until his resignation in 2012.

Town Manager Kristal Flagg presented him with a certificate of appreciation from the town office and the board of selectmen, “from everyone in Livermore Falls,” she said. State Rep. Gary Knight arranged for him to receive a sentiment from the legislature commending him for his many years of service to the library and the community. Lynn Knight spoke about his tenure on the board of trustees, noting that despite the many changes that have occurred, Ouellette’s dedication to the library remained unchanged.

The staff and trustees presented Ouellette with a framed pen and ink of the library done by nationally recognized artist Merrill Gogan, who lives in Readfield. Many area residents and two former library directors were present for the celebration.
