LYNN, Mass. (AP) — A Lynn man is scheduled to face a judge on murder charges in the slayings of his mother and grandmother, whose bodies were found Tuesday near a Saugus elementary school.
Authorities say 23-year-old Joseph Wright is being arraigned Thursday in Lynn District Court. He arrived in Massachusetts early Thursday from Maine, where he was held after Canadian authorities arrested him at the border hours after the bodies were found.
Court documents say Wright told authorities he cut the throats of his 54-year-old mother, Donna Breau (BROH) and his 83-year-old grandmother, Melba Trahant, who lived in a multifamily house in Lynn.
According to an affidavit, Wright told authorities he left the knife at Trahant’s apartment. Wright drove Trahant’s car to Canada. Investigators said they found blood at the home, on the car, and Wright’s clothing.
