WILTON — Four people, including a child, were taken by ambulances to a Farmington hospital Friday after the two cars they were riding in collided at routes 2 and 4.
An unidentified woman driving a rental car had turned left off Route 2 to cross over to Route 4 near the Jay line, when the car collided with another driven by Megan Schisler, 25, of Rumford on Route 2 heading toward Farmington, Wilton officer Tim Coombs said.
Schisler and her passengers, Jonathan Schisler, 25, and their 2-year-old son, Carter, were taken by NorthStar Emergency Medical Services ambulances to Franklin Memorial Hospital, Coombs said.
The three were seated in a grassy area on the island separating east and west travel lanes on Route 2 while Wilton firefighters and NothStar medical responders worked to get the driver out of the rental car.
The woman in that car was still not identified as of 5:30 p.m., Coombs said. The woman was possibly from out of state, he said.
She was also taken by ambulance to FMH after the 11:28 a.m. accident, he said.
The Schisler’s 2004 Chrysler Sebring and the 2012 Nissan Altima rental car were heavily damaged, Coombs said.
Coombs was assisted at the scene by Wilton officer Aaron Gordon and Franklin County Sheriffs Department Deputy Nicholas Zecher. Jay Assistant Fire Chief Michael Booker who was driving by used his truck to block traffic to the entrance lane off Route 2 to Route 4.
The accident remains under investigation.
