WILTON — Grand View Farm will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 27, for Maine ’s first Equestrian Open Barn Day. In the tradition of Maine Maple Sunday, select equestrian barns across the state will be open to the public that day.
It will be a day full of activities and demonstrations. Shannon Tomeny, a local farrier who specializing in bare foot trims for sport horses, will be on hand to trim some of the farm’s horses’ feet. Dr. Stephanie Heikkinen, veterinarian, will be providing information on horse health.
The Giddy-Up and Go 4-H Horse Club from Temple will be holding a mounted meeting with instructor Casondra Dillon from Madison. The club will also be selling their homemade horse treats.
For those who are looking for a bargain on used horse equipment, the horse club and the farm are also holding a tack sale containing used saddles, bridles, boots, half chaps and more.
Refreshments as well as information on more trainers and horse related activities in the Franklin County area will be available.
