MONMOUTH — Kristine Kahl, a senior at Monmouth Academy, was awarded the 2012 Principal’s Award. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.

“Throughout her years at MA, Kristine has distinguished herself in the classroom, on the playing field, and as a leader in the school and the community,” said Principal Rick Amero in making the award.

Kahl is member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, varsity basketball, cross country and softball teams, MASH Pals (Monmouth Academy Student Helpers), student council, peer tutor program, Academic Decathlon and co-president of the senior class.

In addition, she has served her community by volunteering many hours coaching youth basketball and softball and working with multiple nonprofit organizations.

Kahl has accepted an appointment to attend the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and will be sworn-in as a member of the Class of 2016 in June.
