WILTON — “When I became a volunteer, I never realized what a big impact it would have on my life,” said Bob Oliver, a Visiting Volunteer with Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice. “I started to look at life through the eyes of the caregiver and patient. I then realized just how much a couple of hours of my time were worth to someone else. I love this work.”
Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice will offer a training class for individuals who would like to join the volunteer team. The class will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, at Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice’s Office at 284 Main St.
The training class will focus on volunteer opportunities that support patients receiving home care services as they recover from illness, surgery or a new medical condition, according to Kathy Baillargeon, volunteer supervisor. Visiting Volunteers provide companionship and share in activities such as reading, card games or music.
Preregistration is required for the classes. For more information, contact Volunteer Services at 795-9580 or 1-800-482-7412 ext. 1280.
