Both attractions will supplement its existing Zipline Tours, Twin Zips, scenic lift rides, geocache adventures, wildlife encounters, and regular golf, Darcy Morse, resort spokeswoman, said Tuesday in a news report.

The resort will also host its first Maine State Championship Downhill mountain bike race and Western Maine’s Largest Yard Sale. Sunday River opens on Friday, June 29 for summer activities.

The resort’s Flying Disc Golf Course will cover parts of the South Ridge Base Area along the trails and throughout the woods, Morse said.

“For those who aren’t familiar with the sport, Flying Disc Golf is similar to regular golf, in that players want to hit all targets in the fewest number of swings, or tosses,” she said.

“Otherwise, this isn’t golf.

“Toss a disc at each target until you nail it and move on to the next,” she said.

“It takes strategy and fortitude, but most of all, it takes a great sense of humor.”

With the Bungee Trampoline, participants will be strapped into a harness attached to bungee cords that allow them to reach new heights and do unimaginable tricks, Morse said.

“This is not your neighbor’s trampoline,” she said. “This is the real deal.”

Pricing for Sunday River’s summer activities vary, but new this summer, guests at Sunday River can purchase an “Adventure Package” for all-day unlimited access to scenic lift rides, Twin Zips, the bungee trampoline, and the flying disc golf course for $25 (adult) and $22 (junior), Morse said.

On Saturday, June 30, as part of its opening weekend for the summer, Sunday River will host its debut Western Maine’s Largest Yard Sale in the South Ridge Base Area.

“This is the perfect way to kick off Sunday River’s summer season, and a great way to get rid of some skeletons in your closets while finding treasures and celebrating the beginning of the summer season,” Morse said.

Also new this summer, professional and amateur mountain bikers will head to the resort on Sunday, July 8, to battle it out for cash and prizes at the Maine State Championship Downhill.

The course at Sunday River’s lift-serviced mountain bike park will include extreme features and berms to challenge expert and novice riders alike along Sunday River’s North Peak, she said.
