Teachers Lounge Mafia members Dan Ryder, Gavin Pickering, Natalie Simmons, Emily Pottle, Kyla Wheeler and Jeff Bailey will bring their brand of improv comedy to Calzolaio Pasta Co. in Wilton on Saturday, June 16. Titled “For Art’s Sake,” the fundraiser will help a high-school art student attend the Maine College of Art’s summer program in Portland.

WILTON — No one really needs an excuse to laugh, so Teachers Lounge Mafia will provide a good reason instead.

On Saturday, June 16, the troupe will offer up a performance of improv comedy, called “For Art’s Sake,” at Calzolaio Pasta Co., with ticket sales going to help send an aspiring artist to the Maine College of Art’s summer art program in Portland.

Teachers Lounge Mafia performs comedic scenes and games ranging from the guessing games of “Family Reunion” to the audience participatory “Pillars” to the sprawling scenes of “Small World.” Each game relies on audience suggestions to provide inspiration for what comes next, ensuring every show is different.

Claire Donaghue, a Mt. Blue High School art student, has been accepted into the Maine College of Art program, but word arrived too late for her to plan for tuition.

“Claire and her family are just awesome people. Her mom, Margaret, performed stand-up at one of our shows and has always been incredibly supportive of Teachers Lounge,” said TLM member Dan Ryder. “This is a little something we can do to say thanks to a super cool family and hopefully contribute to what promises to be an amazing career for Claire.”

The “For Art’s Sake” show will begin at 7 p.m. Admission is $5. For reservations, call 645-9500 or email teachersloungemafiaimprov@gmail.com. Seating is limited. Food and drink menus available.
