MECHANIC FALLS — Local police have identified the 21-year-old man charged with creating a police standoff late Sunday as Devin Stevens, 45 Pleasant St.

Stevens, who was armed and threatening a woman at his home late Sunday, was subdued by officers using a Taser and taken into custody just after midnight, following a 90-minute standoff.

According to Chief Jeff Goss, Stevens was transported to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center for psychological evaluation, and was charged and bailed from the hospital Monday. He was not processed at the Androscoggin County Jail.

Stevens is scheduled to make his first appearance in Lewiston District Court on July 11.
