FARMINGTON — The United Way of the Tri-Valley Area has launched Days of Caring, a way for volunteers to get involved in the community.

Based on the success of a single Day of Caring hosted by the United Way last year, multiple opportunities to volunteer are planned throughout the summer and early fall.

All volunteers will be invited to the Synergy benefit concert at a reduced ticket price. It will be held at Titcomb Mountain on Sept. 8. Rustic Overtones headlines the event. The other bands are LovingCatchaVibe and The Running Gags.

Days of Caring volunteers can give an hour or a day. Opportunities to volunteer include:

* LEAP’s Stone Soup Gardens from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, July 13, Farmington Falls Road. Trail work and general cleanup, weeding garden and staining boards for gazebo.

* Buttons for Babes, 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, and 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21, United Way of Tri-Valley Area. Making button bracelets to support children in crisis.

* Farmington SummerFest, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, July 27, downtown Farmington Welcome Booth (two-hour minimum); setting up and taking down performance stage, 7 to 9 a.m. and/or 9 to 10:30 p.m; checking trash, vendor set-up and pickup, taping down electrical cords. All day, various shifts.

* Wilton Blueberry Festival, 7 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, clean up two sites on parade route; clean up inside Western Maine Expo Center; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, and 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4 (two hours minimum), help with welcome booth.

* Titcomb Ski Area, Farmington, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, sanding, staining and painting tables and benches.

* Synergy concert, 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 8, setting up tents, moving tables, preparing barbecue.

* United Methodist Economic Ministry, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, painting, light carpentry and weatherizing at the ministry on Salem Road in Salem Township.

* Rural Community Action Ministry, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, painting, landscaping and minor repairs to building(s) in Livermore/Livermore Falls area.

* Community Energy Challenge, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, building interior storm window panels at community workshop in Livermore/Livermore Falls.

Join as part of a team or come alone. Days of Caring will be held rain or shine.
