- The Maranacook String Band will perform in concert from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 1, at Wayne Community Church. Consisting primarily of current and former Maranacook area students, the professional bluegrass band is led by nationally known bluegrass songwriter Stan Keach. Band members are mandolinist Dan Simons, fiddler Jay Smith, teenage lead vocalists Julie Churchill and Lee Stetson, bassist Zach Greenham and banjoist Megan Door. The concert will benefit the church. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for children, $20 for a family and $10 at the door. Call 685-3505 or 685-9005.
